David L. Hensley, a retired Texas Department of Public Safety highway officer, started Texas Defensive Driving School in 1986. The school still offers scheduled or appointment-based in-person defensive driving classes at 3114 Sherwood Way, San Angelo, TX 76901, the same location where classes began.
The online footprint has been part of the business for years. This 40th anniversary year is about making the long-running classroom and online course operation easier to use, easier to verify, and clearer for Texas drivers.

Randy Hensley has been involved with defensive driver training since 1987.
After a brief career in oilfield sales, Randy returned to San Angelo to help his father, David L. Hensley, teach defensive driving. His career has stayed in education, and his instructive skills were critical in the development of the online course.

Gary Hensley has continuously taught classroom defensive driving since 1992.
Gary has presented the defensive driving course more than 2,000 times. When Texas Defensive Driving School created its online course, Gary's classroom experience helped shape the online course curriculum.
